THE WAKKER WEEKLY

Issue #1602 – Posted on: 11-October-2021

The Government of Saskatchewan recently announced that starting on Friday, October 1st all customers wishing to enter a restaurant or bar in Saskatchewan will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a government recognized recent negative Covid test. We are very pleased with the patience, understanding and co-operation our front line staff have received from our longstanding Bushwakker patrons. This is yet another new development as we navigate our way through this “new normal” and in the words of Bushwakker Floor Manager, Cheryl Tovey, “Thanks a bunch! We shore ‘nuff do ‘preciate it!”

Thank you for your overwhelming co-operation and support throughout the introductory phase of the new Proof of Vaccination health measure. You have made our front staff very happy!

BREWERY “HOP”PENINGSBushwakker Head brewer, Michael Gaetz, reports a tank of Blood Orange Blonde Ale is making its way through the brewery. Our Summer Wheat and Pink GuavaBuster Ale are on tap and in our offsale cooler. Our Mango Radler and even some two litre bottles of Sarsaparilla are currently available in our offsale cooler. There are also many other Bushwakker beers available including a West Coast IPA, Irish Red Ale, Brown, Blonde, Pilsener, Vienna, Pale Ale and a Porter.

Growler fills are also available! Please note lager keg fills are not available at this time but customer orders for kegs of all Bushwakker ales have resumed. Our lagers need a bit more aging time before being ready for keg sales. We had to suspend our brewing for a number of weeks while we replaced the brewery boiler. The new boiler is performing great and we have certainly been putting it to work lately. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Our GUEST TAP is currently pouring an OATMEAL STOUT from Nokomis Craft Ales. Next up is a DOUBLE-HOPPED PINEAPPLE IPA from Saskatoon’s High Key Brewing.

In addition to taking our beer home in glass bottles and 2 litre jugs direct from our pub, you can find a varying selection of 650 ml bottles of Bushwakker beer in ALL SIX REGINA SLGA stores.

Our October PREMIUM WINE FEATURES pay tribute to our Oktobestfest event and hail from Germany! The red is Dr. Zenzen Vino Noire. $8.95 for a glass and $23.95 for a half litre. The white is Stubborn Ass. $7.95 for a glass and $21.95 for a half litre. Enjoy wihile quantities last.

Our Weekend Special on October 8th & 9th will be BEEF SAUERBRATEN for $21.95. Our Saturday, October 9th Game Day Special will be a CALGARY BURGER & A PINT for $21.95. Our Saturday CLASSIC STEAK & A PINT SPECIAL will also be available. Our Monday and Wednesday WINGS & A PINT SPECIAL and Tuesday PIZZA & A PINT SPECIAL are also a great value deal.

Bushwakker Oktoberfest Week returns October 4 – 9. Enjoy some hearty delicious German cuisine with one of our special bottled German beers or even a nip of Jagermeister or  Berentzen German apple liqueur! Black Forest Cheesecake and jumbo house-made pretzels available too! Prosit!

The Bushwakker Local Artist Wall for the month of October showcases the works of our youngest artist ever, SARAH WELISCH. Sarah is a young artist from Regina, Saskatchewan. She is the great-granddaughter of late Bushwakker co-founder and president, Bev Robertson. Now 13 years of age, Sarah has been drawing since she was old enough to hold a pencil. Her preferred artistic medium is graphite pencil, although she also enjoys using oil paints and watercolours. Sarah finds realism intriguing and admires the intricacy involved which inspires her to focus more on creatures and human expression. From a young age, she would look at other works of art and ask herself, “Can I do that?” This influence and inspiration continues to this day, and provides her with a great sense of accomplishment and confidence in her life. For artist inquires contact Kristen@bushwakker.com

Enjoy Sarah’s detailed drawings all this month!

You loved the beer and the poster, now you can get the t-shirt! Bushwakker Firkin Friday Phoenix Resurrection t-shirts are now available. Rock on!

It’s not every day that you’ll see a wedding proposal as part of a monthly Bushwakker First Firkin Friday event. Congrats Sean & Cara!

Please be sure you are wearing a mask upon entering and leaving Bushwakker and even if you just need to get up to use the washroom. Masks are not required when you are seated and are eating or drinking. If you forget to bring a mask, we can provide you with a new one.

The government also announced a proof of vaccination or a government recognized recent negative Covid test will be required for in-house dining throughout the province beginning October 1, 2021. Don’t delay and get your vaccination passport activated today!

There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: “abstemious” and “facetious.”

There, now you do know everything!

The first week of the new Proof of Vaccination health measure went extremely smooth at Bushwakker. Our entire staff can’t thank you enough for your amazing co-operation and support!
