The Bushwakker Local Arts Wall for the month of June features a timely and unique project from Saskatchewan artist, PATTI SHAW. Her artist biography is as follows:
Hello, my name is Patti Shaw. My company’s name is Shaw Shades. I’m from Ontario originally but now live in Weyburn. I come from a long line of great eclectic artists who continue to embrace new mediums to add to our growing lists of art.
Normally I’m knee deep in acrylic art but since the pandemic, I’ve keep myself extremely busy sewing fitted face masks. Since I had four totes of material from quilting I thought I would make myself some. People saw them and asked me to make them some too and so on. Through many, many long hours of sewing I’ve made over 7000 masks and have mailed them everywhere from Nova Scotia to BC. I have been very lucky to have found the large amount of fabric that I did. I started out with just making adult masks and then moved to four different sizes to accommodate all who have needed them. I sell them out of my home, online on Facebook and at our local market. I’ve sold and donated over 6000 in the past year. I have a huge variety of masks depicting many sports teams, Baby Yoda, Muppets, Pokémon, animals, Minecraft, Disney and TV shows as seen in my “Crazy Mask Guy” sculpture. Customers wanting to place an order can send me a private message or a text. Pictures can be seen on at www.facebook.com/shaw0shades

BUSHWAKKER “NEW NORMAL” NOTES
The province has entered into Phase One of the Saskatchewan Re-Opening Roadmap Plan and as a result our Hours of Operation have changed. We are now open Monday to Saturday at 11:00 AM and close at 10:00 PM. Kitchen closes at 9:00 PM. We are still closed on Sundays at this time. We are very appreciative of the considerable increase in the number of our takeout food orders. Call us at 306-359-7276 or visit our online ordering page at https://bushwakker.com/shop-2021/
We appreciate your business very much! Due to our reduced seating capacity, we ask that customers limit their dining time so as many people as possible can comfortably enjoy our Real Saskatchewan Brewpub Experience, especially if we have a line-up! Thank you for your co-operation. Because we do not have many tables to spare for customers to use while they wait for their takeout orders, we kindly ask you place your orders ahead of time by calling us at 306-359-7276 so that we can have your order ready upon your arrival. We have added additional waiting spaces in our back common area. Just stand on a red “X” and we will bring your takeout order to you as soon as it is ready. We also can provide curbside pickup. Just let us know when you will be arriving at out back door and we’ll run it out to you.
We ask that our customers do not alter the position of our tables. We are required by the Saskatchewan Health Authority to have our tables placed two meters apart. We have measured the correct spacing so that we can maximize the numbers of tables present while complying with this health order. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
Reservations are accepted and encouraged. We accept limited reservations as late as 6:00 PM from Monday to Saturday. Call at 306-359-7276 to secure your table. Please note under the current provincial guidelines the maximum number of people who can be seated at the same table has increased to six. Larger reservations must occupy more than one table and maintain two meters of physical distancing between each table. These measures will continue to loosen up as the province enters into Phase Two of the 2021 Reopening Roadmap Plan on June 20th.
Please continue to practice safe health and social distancing practices. Remain connected to one another and to us! In addition to this weekly newsletter, we are very active on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Check-in with us often as we navigate these continually evolving times together. Try to support local businesses whenever possible. Be vigilant in your resolve to protect yourselves which in turn will protect others. Please don’t let your guard DOWN so the province can open back UP!
Regina’s Tourism is Getting a post-Covid Boost Using Tech
From The Brewer’s Journal
Regina’s brewers have teamed up to create a Hop Circuit brewery tour in the city to boost its tourism.
Rebellion Brewing’s Hop Circuit is a collaborative brewery tour of the city’s six craft beer makers — Bushwakker, District Brewing, Malty National, Pile O’ Bones, Rebellion and Warehouse Brewing.
“They’re kind of all located relatively central to downtown Regina. And it’s real easy; you visit each one and you get yourself a stamp, like a tour pass … If you complete the circuit you get a beautiful Experience Regina glass,” said Rebellion owner Mark Heise.
Heise says the circuit is a good way for Reginans to ease back into visiting their favourite local spots as the summer months approach.
“As businesses and tourism-focused businesses, we all want to come racing back, but you know there’s a little bit of trepidation on our part. It sounds weird, but it’s almost like we have to retrain our staff and ourselves,” Heise said.
Part of the circuit is to be able to tell the unique stories about Regina. The Experience Regina glass is the brewery’s unique take on an oft-shared, mock video and song of the same name.
Those who don’t use Rebellion’s map can also use a digital application created by local technology company, Krugo.
TIME OUT – Church Humour
These sentences (BLOOPERS) actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services:
The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.
The sermon this morning: ‘Jesus Walks on the Water.’ The sermon tonight: ‘Searching for Jesus.’
Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.
Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say ‘Hell’ to someone who doesn’t care much about you.
Don’t let worry kill you off – let the Church help.
Miss Charlene Mason sang ‘I will not pass this way again,’ giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.
For those of you who have children and don’t know it, we have a nursery downstairs.
Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.
We have four sizes of kegs available and can even fill your kegs with fresh Bushwakker beer with only 24 hours notice. Call 306-359-7276 to get yours!
