THE WAKKER WEEKLY

BREWERY “HOP”PENINGS! Bushwakker Head brewer, Michael Gaetz, reports that one small keg of Double Honey Irish Red Ale and one large keg of Irish Coffee Stout will be tapped on St. Patrick’s Day. Our seasonally available Red Currant Ale, Chinook ESB and 30th Anniversary American Barleywine are currently on tap! There are also 13 other year round brews to choose from making a total of 16 Bushwakker brews currently available.
After a year-long hiatus, Friday, March 5th will see the return of an adapted form of FIRST FIRKIN FRIDAY! Perhaps a better name would be FIRST FIRKIN-ESQUE FRIDAY! We will indeed see a special keg from our brewery coming on tap. There just won’t be any pomp and circumstance for now. No pipers, no procession throughout the brewpub, no long-winded speeches (thank goodness), no Mighty Firkin Wakker being swung around and no beer showers. But there will be an interested brew for you to enjoy. The keg of VANILLA CHAI-BUSTER will be come on tap at 11:00 AM!
Our MARCH PREMIUM WINE FEATURES are from the Luigi Bosca Winery in Argentina. The red is the La Linda Old Vines Malbec. The white is the La Linda Sweet Viognier. Both are $7.95 for a glass and $21.95 for a half litre.
This Weekend’s Special Dining Feature on March 5th and 6th is a HERB ROAST CHICKEN DINNER for $18.95. Our Saturday CLASSIC STEAK & A PINT SPECIAL for $21.95 will also be available.
In addition to taking our beer home in glass bottles, 2 litre jugs and growler fills direct from our pub, you can find a varying selection of 650 ml bottles of Bushwakker beer in ALL SIX REGINA SLGA stores.

BUSHWAKKER “NEW NORMAL” NOTES
We appreciate your business very much! Due to our greatly reduced seating capacity, we ask that customers limit their dining time so as many people as possible can comfortably enjoy our Real Saskatchewan Brewpub Experience, especially if we have a line-up! Thank you for your co-operation and support.
We are very appreciative of the considerable increase in the number of our takeout food orders. Every little bit helps during these challenging times. Because we do not have many tables to spare for customers to use while they wait for their takeout orders, we kindly ask you place your orders ahead of time by calling us at 306-359-7276 so that we can have your order ready upon your arrival. We have added additional waiting spaces in our back common area. Just stand on a red “X” and we will bring your takeout order to you as soon as it is ready. We also can provide curbside pickup. Just let us know when you will be arriving at out back door and we’ll run it out to you. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
We ask that our customers do not alter the position of our tables. We are required by the Saskatchewan Health Authority to have our tables placed three meters apart. We have measured the correct spacing so that we can maximize the numbers of tables present while complying with this health order. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. It has been quite an adjustment to see our number of tables be reduced from a whopping 64 to a mere 19. Nevertheless, we remain grateful for being allowed to offer in-house dining during this challenging time.
Our Hours of Operation are Monday to Thursday from 11:30 AM until 9:00 PM and the kitchen closes at 8:00 PM. Fridays and Saturdays we open at 11:00 AM and close at 10:00 PM. Kitchen closes at 9:00 PM. We are still closed on Sundays at this time. Our takeout food and beer services will continue to be made available.
Reservations are accepted and encouraged. We accept reservations as late as 6:00 PM from Monday to Saturday. Call at 306-359-7276 to secure your table. Please note under the new provincial guidelines the maximum number of people who can be seated at the same table is now limited to four. Larger reservations must occupy more than one table and maintain three meters of physical distancing between each table.
Please continue to practice safe health and social distancing practices. Remain connected to one another and to us! In addition to this weekly newsletter, we are very active on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Check-in with us often as we navigate these continually evolving times together. Try to support local businesses whenever possible. Be vigilant in your resolve to protect yourselves which in turn will protect others. Please don’t let your guard DOWN so the province can open back UP!
St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching! Although there will be no Irish entertainment this year, we will have delicious Irish food and drink available both in-house and to go. Call today to reserve your table! And if you are looking for our popular Green Shamrock Ale for take, our 650ml glass bottles will soon be ready!
7-Eleven Canada Has Been Approved to Sell Beer and Wine in Ontario Locations
From The Brewers Journal
Convenience store chain 7-Eleven Canada will begin selling a selection of Ontario-made beer and wine products in several of its Ontario locations.
7-Eleven says the beer and wine would be offered during limited hours in designated consumption areas.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is still reviewing its liquor sales license applications, which were filed after the Ontario government decided to extend beer and wine retailing to convenience stores.
According to a statement, once the license is approved, 7-Eleven staff in these approved locations would take the Smart Serve training program, which is designed for workers who sell, serve, deliver or handle alcohol in Ontario.
TIME OUT – The Peg Leg Pig
One night a man walks into a bar with a pig. The bartender says to the man, “That’s a great looking pig, but why does he have a wooden leg?”
So the man says, “Let me tell you about this pig. He is one special pig. One night my house was on fire and he dragged me to safety. Saved my life.”
The bartender says. “Well, that’s great. But why does he have a wooden leg?”
The man says, “Let me tell you about this pig. He is one special pig. One time I was out sailing and the boat capsized. This pig swam me to safety. Saved my life.”
The bartender says, “That’s really terrific, but why the wooden leg?”
The man says, “Let me tell you about this pig. He is one special pig. Last week during an earthquake my house collapsed and my pig pulled me out. Saved my life.”
And finally the bartender says,”Wow, that is one special pig. He saved you from a fire, an earthquake and from drowning. But why does he have a wooden leg?”
The man says, “When you have a pig this special you can’t eat all of it at once.”
