BUSHWAKKER “NEW NORMAL” NOTES

We appreciate your business very much! Due to our greatly reduced seating capacity, we ask that customers limit their dining time so as many people as possible can comfortably enjoy our Real Saskatchewan Brewpub Experience, especially if we have a line-up! Thank you for your co-operation and support.

We are very appreciative of the considerable increase in the number of our takeout food orders. Every little bit helps during these challenging times. Because we do not have many tables to spare for customers to use while they wait for their takeout orders, we kindly ask you place your orders ahead of time by calling us at 306-359-7276 so that we can have your order ready upon your arrival. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

We ask that our customers do not alter the position of our tables. We are required by the Saskatchewan Health Authority to have our tables placed three meters apart. We have measured the correct spacing so that we can maximize the numbers of tables present while complying with this health order. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. It has been quite an adjustment to see our number of tables be reduced from a whopping 64 to a mere 19. Nevertheless, we remain grateful for being allowed to offer in-house dining during this challenging time.

Our Hours of Operation are Monday to Thursday from 11:30 AM until 9:00 PM and the kitchen closes at 8:00 PM. Fridays and Saturdays we open at 11:00 AM and close at 10:00 PM. Kitchen closes at 9:00 PM. We are still closed on Sundays at this time. Our takeout food and beer services will continue to be made available.

Reservations are accepted and encouraged.  We accept reservations as late as 6:00 PM from Monday to Saturday. Call at 306-359-7276 to secure your table. Please note under the new provincial guidelines the maximum number of people who can be seated at the same table is now limited to four. Larger reservations must occupy more than one table and maintain three meters of physical distancing between each table.

Please continue to practice safe health and social distancing practices. Remain connected to one another and to us! In addition to this weekly newsletter, we are very active on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Check-in with us often as we navigate these continually evolving times together. Try to support local businesses whenever possible. Be vigilant in your resolve to protect yourselves which in turn will protect others. Please don’t let your guard DOWN so the province can open back UP!

St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching!  Although there will be no Irish entertainment this year, we will have delicious Irish food and drink available both in-house and to go. Call today to reserve your table! And if you are looking for our popular Green Shamrock Ale for take, our 650ml glass bottles will soon be ready!

Ancient Brewery Discovered in Egypt

From The Brewers Journal

A 5,000-year-old brewery has been discovered in Egypt – it could be the world’s oldest known beer factory thought to have dated back to the era of King Narmer, according to the Supreme Council of Antiquities. King Narmer founded the First Dynasty and is considered to have unified Egypt.

The brewery was discovered in Abydos, an ancient burial ground in the desert, by archaeologists and a joint Egyptian-American team.

Thousands of gallons of beer are thought to have been produced at the site after finding several units containing about 40 pots used to heat a mixture of grain and water to make beer. The brewery was made up of eight areas, about 20m long and it is estimated that large-scale production was used with over 22,000 litres produced at a time.

The brewery “may have been built in this place specifically to supply the royal rituals that were taking place inside the funeral facilities of the kings of Egypt”, said an Egyptian tourism ministry statement quoted archaeologist and mission co-head Matthew Adams of New York University.

“Evidence for the use of beer in sacrificial rites was found during excavations in these facilities,” according to a statement.

TIME OUT – The Dentist

A guy and a girl meet at a bar. They get along so well that they decide to go to the girl’s place.
A few drinks later, the guy takes off his shirt and then washes his hands.
He then takes of his trousers and washes his hands again.
The girl has been watching him and says, “You must be a dentist.”
The guy, surprised, says “Yes! How did you figure that out?”
“Easy,” she replied, “you keep washing your hands.”
One thing led to another and they make love.
After they have done, the girl says, “You must be a good dentist.”
The guy, now with a boosted ego says, “Sure, I’m a good dentist, how did you figure that out?”
“I didn’t feel a thing!”

Although our upcoming St. Patrick’s Day event will be a little different this year, we are happy for the opportunity to provide you with delicious Irish food and drink both in-house and to go!
