Our annual LABOUR DAY CLASSIC WEEKEND BURGER BATTLE runs from Friday to Sunday! And we will be open at noon on the football Sunday. Kickoff is at 5:00 PM! We once again welcome our many Manitoba friends who return to Mosaic stadium to watch their beloved Blue & Gold get their licks from the Green & White before the favour is returned at The Banjo Bowl. The Labour Day Classic Weekend is the only opportunity of the entire year where football burger fans can show their support for their team by choosing their namesake burger. History has shown on a number of occasions that the burger which sells the best prior to the game is a strong indicator as to which team will win the Labour Day Classic. Will it be the Rider Burger or the Bomber Burger? May the best burger win!

Last week’s Beer Tasting Event was so much fun that we decided we will present yet another specialty beer tasting event on Thursday, October 23rd featuring some newly introduced beautiful Belgian brews from the renowned BRASSERIE DE SILLY! Just released in Western Canada for the first time! Don’t miss this special tasting experience of seven unique beers lead by Certified Cicerone and Certified Prud’ homme Beer Specialist, Gary de Pape. Only 50 tickets will be made available at $24.95 each. Call 306-359-7276 to get yours!

The Labour Day Weekend signals that summer is beginning to wind down. Our converted 800-litre English beer tank smoker has certainly help to create some delicious smoked dishes like our BIG PAPA. We have a few more weeks of smoky goodness to go before we switch to a new autumn seasonal menu. Savour the smoke while you can! View our limited time summer smokin’ menu at https://bushwakker.com/full-

Generally speaking, the Dewdney Avenue Revitalization Project has been progressing along according to plan during the second and final year of this massive infrastructure and beautification effort. However, the sudden loss of our front sidewalk right before last Friday’s lunch service left floor manager, Rayna, a little concerned. Our front door access has now seen some improvements and we do remind everyone that you can easily get to YOUR Bushwakker by using the rear entrance to the building and parking in the new free parking lot right across Cornwall Street. The construction is slated for completion this November. We certainly appreciate our legion of devoted Bushwakker fans for helping us get there! #bushwakkerbrewpub #

Bushwakker Beer makes it to the Arctic – Almost!
The following is a recent message sent to YOUR Bushwakker from a longtime Bushwakker customer of over three decades. We appreciate how our loyal fans love to share our beloved brews all across the northern hemisphere!
From Steve Haddad August 20, 2025

Hi Bushwakker crew,
You may remember me—Steve Haddad of your darts team from back in the day, retired Luther College teacher, and one of Bushwakker’s devoted fans.
Here’s a story and some pictures of your Dungarvon Irish Red Ale and Regina Pale Ale’s failed attempt to make it to the Arctic.
Back in July, I bought a two-litre jug of each beer with hopes to celebrate sailing along the Mackenzie River across the Arctic Circle with one, and celebrating destination Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean with the other.
My trimaran (Trilight Tribright) boat got close to the Circle, but not across. My brother Tim and I got to the town of Norman Wells, at latitude 65.258°N, just short of the 66.34° of the Circle. We were beside the Canadian Coast Guard vessel, Dumit, whose first officer warned us just in time that the Coast Guard had just removed the buoys we needed to navigate the last major rapids on the Mackenzie River. Sad to say, we needed to turn back. First officer Jack Matthews of the Dumit was very helpful, and since we’d reached our maximum northing, we awarded him the jug of Dungarvon.

We turned back south, but that was a tough trip. We needed assistance from our outboard motor and could only sail when the north wind blew to make any progress upstream against the strong current. Locals avoid the river when the north blows, the driftwood hides, and the rocks don’t show soon enough.
We didn’t think we could make it on the few litres of gas we had left, then along came the Dumit again. We asked if they knew of a local who might bring us more fuel.

Instead, the captain launched a workboat and delivered a few more litres. The crew happily remembered the Bushwakker Dungarvon Irish Red Ale and we happily awarded them with our Regina Pale Ale.
So, if you feel like sending the Dumit’s captain and crew more of Bushwakker’s best (they’re probably docked in Hay River NWT now) I think they would be very pleased.

Long story short: I’m sending this message from the Arctic Circle on the Dempster Highway. We left our boat in Fort Simpson and would like to complete the journey next summer. We then drove the truck here and it’s taken us three weeks to get back above our previous high latitude in Norman Wells. With luck, we’ll be in Tuktoyaktuk in a couple of days, but sadly we’ll not be celebrating with Bushwakker’s this year. Maybe next year.
TIME OUT – More Marathon Runner Jokes
Even after the heart surgery, the marathon runner was setting the pace for this marathon. Guess this is why he had a pacemaker.
The marathon runner was detained in the middle of the marathon by the police because he was resisting a rest.
Turtle runners are slow as shell.
Why are cows such great runners? They have great calves.
Why was the treadmill runner laughing so hard? Who knows, it was an inside joke.
Why couldn’t the lemon finish the marathon? Because it ran out of juice.
Why are pigs so bad at running? Tight hamstrings.
Why did the lawyer with a torn ACL win the marathon? Because he had the power of torn knee.
Have you heard the joke about marathon runners? No, jog my memory.
Why did the marathoner decide to give up racing? Because it gave him the runs.
What happens if a runner doesn’t wear proper shoes? They will suffer agony of de feet.
How do you know if someone ran a marathon? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you.

A Bushwakker brew for the marathon runner in you! Don’t miss the official unveiling of our Queen City Marathon 25th anniversary ale! On Friday, August 29th at 5:30 we’ll pipe-in and tap a keg of GOSE TO THE FINISH. A gently tart German-style brew made with wheat, coriander and pink Himalayan salt! Limited release commemorative bottles will also be on sale! Come taste some Regina running history!
