Our premium red wine for January is Brazos de Los Andes Red from Argentina: $7.95 for a glass and $21.95 for a half litre. The white is Smoky Bay Pinot Grigio from Australia: $6.95 for a glass and $17.95 for a half litre.

Our guest tap is currently pouring a White IPA from the Pile O’ Bones Brewery in Regina. The operators of this city’s newest brewery are comprised of members of the ALES Club which meets monthly at The Bushwakker. $7.95 for a pint and $5.95 for a half pint. Next up is the Lait Lady Lait Coffee Milk Stout from Regina’s Malty National Brewery.

New Hours of Operation. As of January 16, the Bushwakker has been closing one hour earlier. Monday to Thursday hours are now 11:00 AM to midnight and Friday and Saturday hours are 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM. Sunday hours remain unchanged at 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Our Cheryl’s Blonde Ale is available for growler fills at the Quance Street SLGA store in Regina for the month of January. Palliser Porter will be on tap for the month of February. Three other new Saskatchewan-brewed beers are also available. Be sure to support this SLGA pilot program and help grow Saskatchewan craft beer.

Bushwakker Prime Rib Final Weekend: January 27, 28 & 29. Our melt-in-your-mouth, low-and-slow roasted prime rib dinners with jumbo Yorkshire pudding are available for one final weekend. Choose from either an 8 oz. or a 10 oz. cut. Prime rib is definitely one of Bushwakker executive chef Mike’s specialties.

The winner of our Bushwakker 26th anniversary draw for a $100 Bushwakker gift card was Chris Mooney. “Thank you” to everyone for 26 years of incredible enthusiasm and support. We look forward to serving you award-winning craft beer and fine pub cuisine for many years to come!


Jan. 27 & 28: Beer Bacon Bands. The popular beer and live music event returns to the Conexus Arts Centre. Be sure to stop by the Bushwakker booth and sample three popular seasonal offerings. Beer, bacon and music aficionados unite to sample cold brews, taste unique bacon creations and listen to awesome live music, while having fun with a few thousand of their closest friends! 7:00 PM -11:00 PM.

Jan. 30: Monday Night Jazz & Blues. Jeff Mertick. Veteran bluesman returns for a soulful encore performance. 8:00 PM.

Feb. 1: Monthly Ales Meeting. New members are always welcome to sit in on a meeting with some of the Regina’s most enthusiastic homebrewers. This month’s topics of discussion include: Barleywines, Brewing Ice Beer (High ABV Beer), Cleaning and Sanitation and Off-flavours. Meetings are held in the Bushwakker basement clubroom on the first Wednesday of the month at 8:00 PM.
Feb. 1: Wednesday Night Folk. A Storry With Hughes. Veteran guitar duo resurrected from the ashes of Billy & the Bad Boys. 8:00 PM.

Feb. 3: First Firkin Friday. Enjoy the pomp and circumstance of this longstanding Bushwakker monthly tradition at which a piper from the Regina Police Services Pipes & Drums leads a small keg of special beer in a procession throughout the pub. Bushwakker head brewer, Michael Gaetz will brew a cold-pressed coffee and hazelnut Arctic Dark Munich Dunkel. Enjoy the suds soaking spectacle tapping at 5:30 PM.

Feb. 6: Monday Night Jazz & Blues.  The U of R Jazz Band. Come witness Regina’s up-and-coming jazz stars. This is one big band! 8:00 PM.

Feb. 8: Archives Week ‘Perspectives on the Northwest Resistance.’ Presented by the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan as part of Archives Week. This two-hour event will feature readings from never before seen 1885 dispatches to and from the war front, and excerpts from Louis Riel’s diary. Speakers include Prof. James Daschuk and Prof. Sylvain Rehault from the University of Regina, Darren Prefontaine from the Gabriel Dumont Institute, and master of ceremonies Frank Korvemaker, and characters from the ‘Trial of Louis Riel’ play. Archives Week showcases the role that archives and archivists play in preserving and making available Saskatchewan’s documented heritage. Activities in communities across the province include celebrity reading events, film nights, open houses, exhibits and more. 7:00 PM.

Feb. 8: Wednesday Night Folk. The Empire Associates.  A return engagement from this powerful husband and wife folk duo. 9:00 PM. Note later start time due to Sask Archives event.

Feb. 13: Monday Night Jazz & Blues. ‘Round Midnight. Veteran Regina act plays popular jazz. 8:00 PM.

Feb. 14: Valentine Mead Tasting Event. Treat yourself or bring your honey to this Honey Wine event! Sample five mead offerings from Prairie Bee Meadery – Saskatchewan’s only full-time meadery. Their products incorporate locally produced honey and fruit, much of which is grown on their own land. Meadery founder, Vickie Dirksen will share her story and lead you through the mead making process. Tickets only $20 each. Only 50 tickets available. 7:30 PM. An optional special Valentine’s Mead Tasting Dinner featuring Veal Osso Buco with Pancetta Milanese as well as Italian Layered Torte with Pistachio Cappuccino Ice Cream will also be available prior to the mead tasting. 

Feb. 15: Wednesday Folk Night. Bradford. Talented veteran acoustic guitar/vocal duo. 8:00 PM.

Feb. 16: Health Science Pub. Our wildly popular Science Pub Series has returned for a fifth incredible season and has grown in scope and periodically includes presentations from the various health research groups at the University of Regina! Enjoy lectures on scientific topics of general interest in our Arizona Room (main floor banquet room) over beer and snacks. The room opens at 5:00 PM and quite often is full by 6:00 PM. Avoid disappointment and come down early for dinner and a pint before the presentation which begins at 7:00 PM. This month’s lecture will be presented by Jann Ticknor from the All Nations Hope Network will speak on HIV/AIDs from the social and indigenous perspective. 7:00 PM.

Feb. 18 – 19: Regina Art Collective – Second Annual “PAINTING, POTTERY & A PINT” ART SHOW and SALE in support of the Regina Humane Society.  The Regina Art Collective is a group of nine dedicated and talented artists who feel that as a group, they can better benefit the art community. They will be having their second annual art show and sale in the Bushwakker Arizona Room. It will include a variety of original paintings, photography, polymer clay, sculptural pieces, ceramics, pottery and mixed media. Opening day is Saturday, February 18 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The show continues on Sunday, February 19 from noon to 6:00 PM.

Feb. 22: Wednesday Night Folk. Mabaleka. Modern country-folk duo from Saskatoon returns for an encore performance. 8:00 PM.

Feb. 27: Monday Night Jazz & Blues MID-WINTER BLUES FESTIVAL EDITION. Christie-Anne Blondeau. This powerful vocalist kicks off the 2017 festival in fine form. 8:00 PM.

Salty Bob Stops by The Bushwakker For a Pint

A stuffed Bison head, named “Salty Bob”, visited the Bushwakker on January 13th. It was accompanied by Lt. Tracy Tkachuk from the HMCS Regina. The Bushwakker has had a close relationship with “The Regina” for decades. You may have noticed the various paraphernalia from the ship behind the bar. When members of the crew are in Regina on their so-called “namesake city” visits they usually stop in at the Bushwakker a few times. Lt. Tkachuk is from Gronlid Saskatchewan, where his family operates a Bison Ranch, and is a major contributor to that close relationship. He had the head stuffed and was taking it to the ship in Esquimalt B. C., where it will adorn the wall in the Wardroom (Officers Mess.) He also took a supply of Regina Pale Ale to be used during the unveiling of Salty Bob. We understand that Rear-Admiral Art McDonald who assumed Command of Maritime Forces Pacific and of Joint Task Force Pacific last July, will be present.

The Master Seaman and Below Mess on the Regina has been known as “Bushwakker West” for many years and the entrance door displays a large Bushwakker logo. The ship underwent a major refitting a few years ago and among the very few things that remain from the previous interior of the ship is that Bushwakker door.

The Bushwakker is proud of its relationship with Regina’s namesake component of the Canadian Navy.  But that’s not our only relationship with the Canadian military. Another is our participation in the annual Prince’s Operation Entrepreneur Boot Camp for military veterans, operated by the Hill School of Business at the U. of R. and the Enactus business student group. One of the events associated with the Boot Camp is direct interviews between Bushwakker founder Bev Robertson and the participating veterans in pairs. (Another is an evening at the Bushwakker with tours and Q & A about entrepreneurship’s role in the Bushwakker.) He was astonished to be told by some of the Navy vets during the 2016 edition, that the Bushwakker (and himself) were known to the entire Canadian Navy. Upon reflection, it seems somewhat reasonable. A peacetime navy is about skill development. That means that personnel are moved frequently, between assignments and between ships, in order to further their training. Word spreads with them.
