SCIENCE PUB – TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER: CREATING A MENTAL HEALTH “TOOLKIT” FOR PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL. Our wildly popular Science Pub Series returns to kick off the second half of the 13th incredible season! Enjoy lectures on scientific topics of general interest in our Arizona Room over fine craft beer and award-winning pub cuisine. The room opens at 5:00 PM. Avoid disappointment and come down early for dinner and a pint before the presentation which begins at 7:00 PM. This month’s lecture is presented by Dr. Kimberly Bitz, Knowledge Mobilization Lead, Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research & Treatment and S/SGT Casey Ward O.O.M., Regina Police Service, President Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers. Mental health isn’t about being tough—it’s about having the right tools to cope with the stressors of the job. Come explore what belongs in your mental health “go-bag” and what actually helps when stress hits. Public safety personnel (PSP) face unique and cumulative psychological demands that require proactive, practical, and accessible approaches to mental wellness. Blending research, lived experience, and practical insight, this presentation explores how mental health can be supported in realistic, everyday ways—translating evidence into tools that make sense on the job and beyond.  Designed for a broad audience with an interest in mental health, participants will leave with practical tools, resources, and conversation starters to support well-being at both individual and organizational levels.
